Photography

Addendum to text-based work, photography is observatory and documentation, understanding the picturesque-ness of the everyday lives adjunct to the trial and failure to capture.

Subject or author is a revolving door, and the inanimate subject and animated image coexisting bring further intrigue to this discourse. There exists within a focused capture an intense poetic reverie where our imagination fills in the blanks of viewing.

Opting not to omit ‘bad images’, a second reverie opens. Saving the out of focus, the light leaking and poorly-angled – these ‘mistakes’ are relatable, grounding between viewer and photographer. We share flaws of this uninviting world. Whether we hold onto the wonder of an ideal image or the reality in front of the lens, what invites the delicious pressing of the shutter into the mind?

Works shown are shot on Ilford HP5 Plus, Portra 400 and Kodak Gold 200 with an Olympus Mju-II Zoom 80.
